What is Gift Planning?
Gift Planning encompases a variety of ways that gifts can be make to The Bruton Parish Church Foundation, Inc. from accumulated resourses.
It usually involves financial or estate planning: however, it is not reserved for the wealthy. Gift Planning is a means by which anyone concerned with the wise stewardship of their personal resources makes a considered choice about their ultimate disposition.
The Foundation is a Virginia tax-exempt non-stock corporation established by the Vestry in January 2003, to serve as a permanent repository for gifts and bequests make to Bruton Parish Church for purposes other than for annual giving. Foundation assets are professionally managed. The Foundation's by-laws provide that a portion of the earnings may be distributed annually for the benefit of Bruton Parish and to the greater glory of God.
The foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, under the terms of its By-Laws, its Mission Statement, and its Endowment Funds, Gift Acceptance, Governance, Investment, and Spending Rule Policies. The Rector, Senior Warden, Parish Treasurer, and six parishioners appointed by the Vestry, serve as Directors.
Gifts to the Foundation may be in the form of:
1. A bequest in a will or trust
2. A life income gift
3. Gifts of retirement plans
4. Gifts of life insurance
5. A gift of property reserving a life estate
6. Gifts of appreciated property
