Kids Helping Kids through the Salvation Army's Apple Tree Program

The success of The Salvation Army’s Apple Tree Program depends on people like you agreeing to “adopt” a child and purchase a NEW school outfit and shoes.  For many of the families who turn to The Salvation Army for help, the clothing and shoes they receive through this program are the only new items their children will have on that important first day of school!  Please help a child get off to a good start this school year.

How does the program work?

Stop by the Parish House soon during the  week to PICK UP a Salvation Army tag(s), or take a tag  at the church on Sundays, July 23 & 30 (if they’re still available) or in the Parish House during the week. The tag will contain the Family ID and Child Code with your child’s name and size information.

        FOR EXAMPLE:

        Family ID # 106            Age:  12
        Code:  A
                    Pants/Shirt Size: 14
        Name:  John
              Jacket Size: 14
        Boy/Girl: Boy
            Shoe Size: 7
        Age: 12

You then take the tag and SHOP for your child(ren).  We ask that you provide NEW clothing and shoes.

Once you have shopped for your child(ren), PLACE all of the gifts for each child into his or her own bag.  DO NOT COMBINE A FAMILY OR ADD OTHER TAGS INTO ONE BAG. DO NOT WRAP GIFTS. Place the middle part of the tag in the bag, then tie or zip tie the bag, attaching the top section of the ID tag to the outside of the bag.

Please KEEP the bottom portion of the tag to attach to your receipts for tax purposes.

WHEN AND WHERE can I drop off my bag? Now through Friday, August 11 at Christine Britton’s office in the Parish House or at Salvation Army offices located at 151 Kristiansand Drive, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

For more information, please contact Christine Britton at 757-229-2891 or The Salvation Army of Greater Williamsburg at 757-229-6651.
