Youth Formation - February 2017
Youth Lenten Journey 2017
Each Sunday of Lent, beginning March 5, middle and high schoolers are invited to join us for a Lenten discipline just for them. This time will bring to life our journey towards the cross and empty tomb as we deal with how the Gospel addresses issues teenagers face. We'll talk about things like appearance and self-image, issues of identity, drugs and peer pressure, and more. Middle schoolers will meet from 5:30-7pm in the Parish House followed by Compline in the Church at 7pm. High school students will join in Compline at 7pm then stick around for conversation from 7:30-8pm. Please visit bit.ly/brutonlent2017 for more details! In addition to these offerings, we are going to make our Lent and Easter church services accessible to young people. We will be holding meetings just before the services to discuss how powerful liturgies such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday transform us. Contact Father Josh for more information or questions at jstephens@brutonparish.org!
March 26:  Please note that the Youth Lenten Journey on Sunday, March 26, will not be held so that all middle and high schoolers will have the opportunity to join us for the 5:30pm service when our Presiding Bishop, The Most Re'vd Michael Curry, will join us for Holy Eucharist and preach.  Afterwards, our middle and high schoolers are invited up to the Parish House for pizza!
Sunday, April 2
Sunday School will be held in the Custis House at 10:30am, and Choir Rehearsal at 11am. The Youth Lenten Journey will continue for middle schoolers at 5:30pm in the Parish House, followed by Compline at 7pm in the church, when our high schoolers will join us.

Sunday, April 9
Sunday School will not be held, but there will be Choir Rehearsal at 11am. The Youth Lenten Journey will conclude on Palm Sunday.

Sunday, April 16
Sunday School will not be held on Easter Sunday. The Children’s & Youth choirs will be singing at 10:15am during the churchyard service (there will be no rehearsal this Sunday). The Easter Egg Hunt will follow the 10:15am service in the churchyard. Any youth who would like to help Meghan Brewer hide the Easter Eggs should contact her at mbrewer@brutonparish.org.

Sunday, April 23 & 30
Sunday School will be held in the Custis House at 10:30am, and Choir Rehearsal at 11am.
Offerings of Gratitude for God’s Blessings
Bruton’s children and youth are invited to a discipline of giving this Lent through our United Thank Offering blue boxes which will be distributed during church on Sundays and are also available in the Parish House during the week. In donating through the boxes, children and youth help others by sharing what God has given them. The Children’s Lenten Calendar entitled Giving of Yourselves, Blessings In All Forms was included in last month’s issue and is also available in the Parish House. Bring your UTO boxes back to church on Sunday, April 23.
Youth Mission Trip to Georgia
Our middle and high schoolers are headed to the mountains of Appalachia this summer for a mission trip to north Georgia from June 18-26. If you are interested in participating, please contact either Father Josh at jstephens@brutonparish.org, Meghan Brewer at mbrewer@brutonparish.org, or call 757-229-2891.  Visit http://bit.ly/brutonyouthmission2017 for more information and to sign up.
Vacation Bible School will be here before you know it!
Save the dates for VBS which will be held here at Bruton Parish this year from August 7-11 from 9am to 12pm.  We’ll need lots of hands to help out, so if you can volunteer during this week, please contact Meghan Brewer at  757-345-6489 or mbrewer@brutonparish.org.
