Fall Camp at Shrine Mont

Fall Camp is a four-day adult conference from October 22-25 sponsored by the Tri-Diocesan Council on Aging which represents all three Episcopal dioceses in Virginia: Dioceses of Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and Southern Virginia. It is held Monday through Thursday each year at Shrine Mont Conference Center in Orkney Springs, Virignia. More information about Shrine Mont itself is available at www.shrinemont.com.
Visit http://bit.ly/FALLCAMP2018 for details and download a brochure with registration information (or stop by the Parish House to pick up a physical copy).
The keynote speaker will be Lauren F. Winner, who writes and lectures widely on Christian practice, the history of Christianity in America, and Jewish-Christian relations. Her books include Girl Meets God, Mudhouse Sabbath, a study of household religious practice in 18th-century Virginia, A Cheerful and Comfortable Faith, Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis, and, most recently, a book on overlooked biblical tropes for God, Wearing God. She is completing a book called Characteristic Damage, which examines the effects of sin and damage on Christian practice. Dr. Winner, an Episcopal priest, is vicar of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Louisburg, North Carolina.
We will be entertained by Folk-Theologian Ed Kilbourne, a Methodist minister, who is known for his collections of moving music, quirky humor, and insightful monologues. He has earned a reputation as one of America's cutting edge religious communicators, a folk-theologian if you will, offering his teaching in story and song. Ed combines acoustic guitar, singing and commentary. Additionally, Ed offers a half-hour devotional each morning before breakfast. Read more online about Ed by visiting www.edkilbourne.com. Visit the Shrine Mont website for more information.
