Process for the Election of our Next Bishop

At Spring Clergy Day on May 3, the Standing Committee conducted a guided conversation about the desired qualifications and vision for the role of our next diocesan bishop. A similar session will take place in a format for lay people of the diocese. We have engaged a consultant to the search process, the Rev’d John Fritschner of Kentucky.
We’re pleased to announce that the application process is now open for the Search and Transition Committees as we call a new Bishop to lead our Diocese.
The Search and Nomination Committee interviews and selects candidates to present to the Standing Committee for nomination as the next Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Virginia.
The Transition Committee’s key responsibilities include walk-abouts, assist in the election process, ordination and consecration in conjunction with the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, and pastoral care of those in the process.
Working on these committees will involve email, so it’s very important that you be able to submit your application electronically. The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Southern Virginia has drafted an application by which clergy and lay communicants in good standing may submit their names to serve on either the Search or Transition Committee. It is available at http://bit.ly/DIOSOVASEARCHAPP and is due  by June 15. This is a PDF form. To complete the form, you should first download the document and save it on your computer. Open the saved file, complete it online, and then save it again. Then, email the saved file directly to susan@susangrimm.com.
Please prayerfully consider applying, and together we will seek God’s will for our next Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Virginia.
