Linda Leonard, Chorister Choir Director

Linda’s career in music education spans over 45 years.  She has worn many musical “hats” as choral  conductor, musical director, soloist, choral clinician/adjudicator and professor of voice.  She has performed as soprano soloist for various choirs and churches in New Jersey as well as Europe, including performances with Shrewsbury Chorale in her home state of New Jersey. She obtained her undergraduate degree in music education from Rowan University and her Master’s degree from Shenandoah Conservatory, where after teaching in the public schools until 2003,  she eventually took a position at Shenandoah Conservatory as an adjunct professor of voice and music education supervisor. During her many years as a high school choral director in New Jersey, she was awarded and recognized as “Teacher of the Year” in the Toms River Regional School System.  Many of her private voice students have moved onto the professional stage in New York City and Los Angeles.  She has been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) as well as an active member of NAfME. Linda enjoys arranging choral music and still gives choral clinics in Maryland and Virginia.  She also is a choral adjudicator for “Music in the Parks”. She and her husband, James are enjoying their new home in Williamsburg. Linda can be reached via email at choristers@brutonparish.org.
