Youth Formation

 

Sunday School: Middle and high school students meet for the Upper Sunday School class in the Custis House (located directly across from the Church) from 10:20-11:00. They meet upstairs in the Custis House and should walk over after the 9:15 service ends and then, following the class, walk down for choir in the Parish House.

Youth Cantores Choir rehearse at 11:10am each Sunday unless there is no Sunday School (then they meet at 10:30am).

All Sundays in June & July
There will be NO youth programming during the months of June and July due to the two mission trips approaching, vacations, etc.
 
Sunday, June 2: Senior Party
All 8th through 12th graders are invited to a Graduation Celebration & Dinner for our seniors who are graduating this year! Please join us from 6:30-8:30pm at Ford's Colony Club House in Williamsburg (165 St Andrews Drive). Please RSVP to Lisa Lucas online via bit.ly/SENIORGRADS2019, and be sure to let Meghan Brewer know you'll be attending.
 
Wednesdays, May 29, June 5 & 12: Pre-Pilgrimage Gatherings   
All high schoolers who are going on the mission trips to Navajoland and Cataract Canyon this summer are meeting on Wednesdays, May 29, June 5 & June 12, to prepare for this important journey of faith and service. Meetings will take place in Coffee, Tea, and Thee in the Parish House (dinner included) from 5:30-7:30pm.
 
Saturday, June 8: FISH Food Drive
Please join us at the Parish House at 8:30am to gather the donations of food from the FISH Summer Food Drive.  We’ll load our cars, take them over to FISH, and help stock their shelves. Please contact Lynn Smyth by email at FISH@brutonparish.org to volunteer!
 
Sunday, June 9: Confirmation
Please join us in the church during the 9:15am service to witness and support all those who are being confirmed that day.  
 

July 6-17, 2019
Mission and Pilgrimage to Navajo-land, New Mexico & Cataract Canyon, Utah

High School students are invited to help organize and attend a trip to work with a Navajo congregation, St. Michael's Episcopal Church, to host a Vacation Bible School from July 8-12, 2019. On July 12, we will travel to Moab, Utah for a wilderness pilgrimage of five days and four nights of rafting through the remote Cataract Canyon in Canyonlands National Park. We will learn about Navajo culture along the way and spend time with God, our creator. Bruton Parish's current high schoolers and their friends are invited, and they will be expected to gather for pre-trip meetings and to help with fund-raisers. The trip cost is $1,300/person with a $400 deposit due by April 1. If you turn in your deposit by March 1, then you’ll receive a $100 discount on the trip. 


July 21-28, 2019
Mission Trip to the Appalachian South Folklife Center in Pipestem, West Virginia

Middle and high school students are invited to journey to the wild and wonderful mountains of West Virginia for a week of service work, prayer, cultural experiences, and time with God in creation. This trip will leave on Sunday, July 21, when we’ll spend a week working on local homes with the Folklife Center as our facilitators and home base. Students will be shaped by Morning and Evening Prayer, music, and group conversations, as well as the work completed each day.
    On Friday, July 26, we will head to the New River Gorge for two nights of fun and rest including an adventure lake and white-water rafting through the New River Gorge. This trip costs $450/person with a $200 deposit due by May 1. If you turn  in your deposit by March 1, you will receive a $50 discount on the trip. 

Parishioner Support Appreciated
We are grateful for parishioner's support of our mission trips and pilgrimages. Donations are welcome at any time to offset chaperone costs and youth scholarships. Write checks to Bruton Parish with "Youth Mission Trip Donation" in the memo and give to Fr. Josh Stephens.
 
August 5-9: Vacation Bible School @ St. Martin's Episcopal Church
Please watch our Website, the monthly Chronicle, the weekly Bruton Bytes, our Sunday bulletins, and our weekly emails for more information on Vacation Bible School being held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. They'll need lots of youth volunteers to help out!
