Announcing a Hymn Competition for College Students in Celebration of Bruton Parish's 300th Anniversary
In 2015, Bruton Parish Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, will celebrate its 300th anniversary. This church, located in Colonial Williamsburg’s historic area, has been the scene of many important events in our county’s early history and served as the worship place for six presidents and many of our nation’s founders.
As part of the commemoration for this special occasion, the church will commission three hymns. The commissions will be determined through a competition open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in colleges, universities, and conservatories in the United States. Each winning entry will receive a $500 cash award, and the selected hymns will be performed at Bruton Parish Church during the yearlong anniversary celebrations.
Entries with accompanying entry forms must be received by February 7, 2014. The winners will be announced on or before May 2, 2014.
