Christian Formation for Children & Youth
If you have any questions regarding the offerings below, please contact our Coordinator of Children's & Youth Formation, Meghan Brewer.

Nursery
A nursery is provided at the Parish House for newborns through 4-year olds from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. every Sunday.

Children’s Church
While children are always welcome in church, we also offer an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word for children (kindergarden through 5th grade) in St. Mary’s Chapel from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. every Sunday (please visit the homepage of the website to see the schedule for each Sunday). If Children's Church is being held, parents may drop children off at St. Mary’s Chapel in the Parish House at 9:00 a.m. for this service of story and song through which they will engage the scripture for the day. Children will be escorted to the church to join their families at The Peace for Eucharist.

Sunday School
Formation for children and youth is held at 10:30 a.m. upstairs in the Custis House for middle and high school youth and in the Parish House for three-year-olds through 5th graders. With such wonderful growth in the program (we have added several 3-4 year olds), we have a new program offered just for this age group. At 9:15 a.m., they will go in the classroom next to the Nursery, where an age-appropriate lesson will be provided.  The 3-4 year olds will join all of us in BIG church at the Peace and, when we come back after Communion, they will rejoin for a Sunday School lesson.

Children's Choirs
Joyful Noise & Choristers, our youth choirs, rehearse in the Choir Room of the Parish House most Sundays at 11:00 a.m., directed by Genrose Lashinger (ages K-2nd grade; choristers@brutonparish.org) and Ann Porter (joyfulnoise@brutonparish.org; 3rd through middle school). If your child(ren) would like to join the choirs, please contact them directly.

Children’s Church will be held on September 7, 14 & 21 (not 28th) and is age-appropriate worship for children K-5th held at 9:15 a.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel in the Parish House. Parents who are attending the 9:15 a.m. service in the "big church," are welcome to drop their children off at St. Mary's Chapel beginning at 9am, then head to the church as they will will join the congregation during the Peace.  If you have any questions regarding this service, please contact Meghan Brewer, Coordinator of Children's & Youth Formation.

Sunday, October 12
Sunday school fall term begins! This year’s youth Sunday school classes will follow the Godly Play curriculum and and explore the big messages of the Bible and how we live into those today. Over the following weeks, we will decide together what the big messages are and then talk through what those mean for us as individuals, as a community, and as part of the world. Middle school youth meet with Laura Epperson upstairs in the Custis House (on the left) and high school youth meet with the  Rev’d Sarah Brockenbrough upstairs on the right from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Come join the discussion!  Evensong at 5:30 in the church! Some of our middle school youth sing with the Evensong choir, so come support them and enjoy this service of music and prayer. Bring your musical instruments if you’d like.
