What is the Young Adult Service Corps?

The Young Adult Service Corps (YASC) is a program through the Episcopal Church that brings young adults (ages 21-30) in relational mission with a diocese somewhere in the Anglican Communion.  The point is not to directly proselytize, but rather to serve as an example of God's Word through actions and relationship.  In doing so, missionaries explore other churches, their own faith, vocational possibilities, and how God's love knows no boundaries.  If you would like to learn more about YASC, visit:  http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/young-adult-service-corps.  If you would like to see a YASC mission in action, visit Andy Russell's blog about his mission to Tanzania at http//asrussell-yasc.blogspot.com.

Children's & Youth Formation - October
Nursery is available each Sunday for newborns through 4-year-olds on the first floor of the Parish House from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Children’s Church is age-appropriate worship held at 9:15 a.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel, tailored for children K-5th grade. Drop off your child(ren) at 9:00 a.m., then head to the church and save your child a seat, as they’ll join the congregation at The Peace.  We will continue holding an age-appropriate service for 3-4 year olds in the room next to the nursery in the Parish House during this timeframe.
Sunday, October 4
Children’s Church will not be held because of the Blessing of the Animals, so be sure to join us and bring your pet! The Children's Choirs will sing at the 9:15 a.m. service that morning (this will be the last Sunday that they rehearse at 10:30 a.m.; they resume their regularly scheduled rehearsal at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish House choir room).
Sunday, October 11 - Sunday School Begins
We’ll have Children's Church at 9:15 a.m. and, after Communion, all children will meet in the Tower to walk down for the first day of Sunday School. After Sunday School, I will bring all singers down to Joyful Noise & Chorister Choir Rehearsal, and all other parents will pick their children up at 11:00 a.m. from Sunday School. For those in choir, parents should pick up their children at 11:30 a.m.
Sunday, October 11
Sunday school fall term begins! This year’s youth Sunday school classes will explore the big messages of the Bible and how we live into those today. Over the following weeks, we will decide together what the big messages are and then talk through what those mean for us as individuals, as a community, and as part of the world. Middle school youth meet upstairs in the Custis House (on the left) and high school youth meet upstairs on the right from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Come join the discussion!
Sunday, October 18
Children’s Church, Sunday School & Children’s Choirs will continue. We will also be kicking off our Family Pancake Breakfasts this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (after choir) in the Parish House for parents of pre-school and elementary-aged children. Parents will gather in the kitchen at 10:30 a.m. to cook.  Middle & High School Combined Youth Group will meet from 5:30-7:30 p.m., starting with dinner in the Parish House, followed by games in the youth room. We will finish up with a "souped up" service of Compline in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. This service will be offered to the whole community.
Sunday, October 25
Children’s Church, Sunday School and Children’s Choirs will be held this day.
