Stewardship is more than simply supporting the church with an annual gift each fall. Christian stewardship is the grateful and responsible use of God’s gifts in the light of God’s purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions. Both for the individual and for the community, stewardship is a joyful act for the sake of God’s world. Stewardship is lived out in:

Living and telling the good news;

Sharing God in seeking justice, peace, and the integrity of creation in an interdependent universe;

Wisely employing God-given human resources, abilities and relationships;

Sharing the material resources we hold and giving them in service, justice, and compassion;

Providing for future generations, sharing in the life, worship and responsible stewardship of the Church and its mission

(This definition comes from the Standing Rules of the Ecumenical Stewardship Center.)

The Stewardship Ministry hopes to facilitate and enhance a journey in faith and spiritual revitalization for all members of Bruton Parish Church. Through a year-round stewardship program, we further hope to empower all parishioners in stewardship, individually and collectively, by helping them discover how they may use their varied and unique gifts as outward and visible expressions of the inward and spiritual faith in the service of God and of the mission of Bruton Parish Church.

The Three Primary Activities Of A Year-Round Program Are:

Environmental Stewardship: The Stewardship Ministry is working to identify opportunities to become stewards of the environment, to educate the parish about these opportunities and related issues and to make Bruton Parish a leader in the stewardship of our environment that is God’s gift to us.

Annual Giving Campaign: The primary activity of this committee is to coordinate the fall Annual Giving campaign. This includes member visitations to acquaint our members with the many opportunities to support church activities and ministries.

Planned Giving: This committee coordinates with the Planned Giving committee as required.

Stewardship is a way of life that reflects a thankful response and respectful use of God’s bounty.  Parishioners, especially those with stewardship experience, are encouraged to join this committee.
