More About Bruton Builders

Bruton Builders is a group of parish volunteers that offer basic handyman services to help others in need. The mission of Bruton Builders is three-fold:

  1. Provide basic handyman services to non-profit organizations that assist others in need.
  2. Provide services in a coordinated effort through the Diocese and the wider Episcopal Church in rebuilding and restoring areas affected by natural disasters.
  3. Provide services to Bruton Parish facilities as needed.

We support non-profit organizations in the local area by providing no-cost labor to perform handyman tasks they may need. We have built several handicap accessible ramps, repaired and painted walls, laid flooring, repaired and replaced electrical and plumbing fixtures at various locations throughout the Williamsburg area.

In the past our volunteers left the local area in coordinated relief and reconstruction efforts to regions damaged by Hurricanes Katrina (Mississippi) and Sandy (Maryland).

What We Do

  • Basic handyman skills (think “do it yourself” skill level) for facility improvement and repair/maintenance services.
  • We repair or replace fixtures on existing electrical circuits or plumbing lines.
  • We follow approved plans when building new construction, such as handicap ramps or Habitat for Humanity housing.

What We Aren't Able To Do

  • We don’t design new construction nor submit building permits.
  • We don’t work on roofs.
  • We don’t work in crawl spaces or under flooring.
  • We don’t install or replace electrical circuitry or plumbing lines.
