The Bruton Parish community is delighted to welcome newcomers into our parish family. Below you will find a few ideas to get you involved in the life of our parish. For more information, you can contact the Church Office (757-229-2891) or you can email the Parish Secretary.
During the Sunday service: Parishioners who serve as greeters after each service are happy to take your name, address, and telephone number. Once our Membership Coordinator receives this information, a letter and Newcomer Packet will be sent to you. Completing and returning the enclosed forms let us better assist you in becoming a part of our parish family.
Newcomer Sunday Gatherings: From time-to-time, Bruton designates specific Sundays to meet and greet newcomers. These gatherings are held in the Parish House (Lewis Hall). This is a great time to gather with our members, clergy, and vestry.
Newcomer Lunch with the Rector and Associate Rectors: These luncheons are planned quarterly or more frequently as needed. Invitations are extended to newcomers so they can meet and dine with the clergy in a more intimate environment.
Daily Basis: There are always opportunities to be a part of one of our many ministries. All are great ways to meet people with similar spiritual and ministry interests and make new friends.
Confirmation/Reaffirmation/Reception classes are offered twice a year to prepare parishioners (new and old) to be formally received and confirmed in the Episcopal Church at the Bishop’s yearly visit. For more information on confirmation classes, contact the Parish Secretary.
Membership: Visit the Membership Page to learn more about becoming a member.
Church Hours for Visitors
The church is open every day of the year, and Guides are on hand to welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday through Saturday) and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Guide Ministry is a service designed to provide accurate interpretation of historic Bruton Parish to the visiting public and to answer questions. Voluntary donations from visitors are the primary support of the program.
Parish House Office Hours
The Parish House is located on Duke of Gloucester Street between Nassau St. and Henry St., a block from the church towards Merchant's Square. The office is open from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
