The Bruton Parish community is delighted to welcome newcomers into our parish family. Below you will find a few ideas to get you involved in the life of our parish. For more information, you can contact the Church Office (757-229-2891) or please complete a Newcomers & Visitors form.
During the Sunday service: Newcomers and visitors are asked to take a moment to complete the card form in the blue folder at the end of the pew and drop it in the offertory plate or hand it to an usher. Once our Membership Coordinator receives this information, a letter and Newcomer Packet will be sent to you. Completing and returning the enclosed forms let us better assist you in becoming a part of our parish family.
Newcomer Sunday Gatherings: From time-to-time, Bruton's Newcomer Committee host Wine & Cheese receptions in the Parish Hall. This is a great time to gather with our members, clergy, and vestry. Coffee-in-the-Custis House is held every Sunday following the 9:15 a.m. service. Please join us.
Volunteer Opportunities: There are always opportunities to be a part of one of our many ministries. All are great ways to meet people with similar spiritual and ministry interests and make new friends. Review our SWEEPS CLASSIFIED listing of current ministry opportunities and complete the Managing Gifts God Has Given Us time and talent form and return it to the parish house.
Confirmation/Reaffirmation/Reception classes are offered twice a year to prepare parishioners (new and old) to be formally received and confirmed in the Episcopal Church at the Bishop’s yearly visit. For more information on confirmation classes, contact the Administrative Assistant.
Membership: Visit the Membership Page to learn more about becoming a member.
Church Hours for Visitors
The church is open every day of the year, and Guides are on hand to welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday through Saturday) and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Guide Ministry is a service designed to provide accurate interpretation of historic Bruton Parish to the visiting public and to answer questions. Voluntary donations from visitors are the primary support of the program.
Parish House Office Hours
